Carding (Numbers in picture correspond to text)

various ways of carding

1. Drum Carder $538.00
Our drum carder is well designed and efficient to make your carding time productive, adjustment-free and enjoyable.

The non-slipping gears are enclosed in a gearbox and require no additional lubrication or adjustment.

The sides of the gearbox also serve to keep the fibers on the carder, away From the shafts and sides.

The intermeshing of the teeth ensures that the fibers are combed efficiently. The flexibility of the teeth allows then, to bend out of the way providing gentle pressure on the fibers. The extra long teeth I3mm(l/2”) and the 25 x 19cm wide (10” x 8” wide) drum allow this carder to produce thicker and longer baits than conventional carders.
Two kinds of carding cloth are available on the Louët carders: fine cloth with 14 teeth p/cm2 (46 teeth /square inch) and coarse cloth with 7 (stronger) teeth p/cm2 (23 teeth square inch). In order to ensure a long life, the teeth on all Louet carders are made of high
grade plated steel wire.

Operation of the drum carder is easy. Simply clamp it on a corner of a sturdy table with the two table chimps provided. Use your left hand to feed un-teased locks right into the carder while turning the handle with your right hand.

The Louët drum carder comes with table clamps, doffer hitch, doffer pin and instructions.
Shipping weight: 7.6kg (17 Ibs).

The carder gets its name from the 10cm (4”) wide roving like batts it produces. The drum size is 025 x 10cm
wide ( l0” x 4” wide).
